Quarter of a century

Members of the Men's Probus Club of Weston Creek recently celebrated 25 glorious years as part of the Probus community.

It was rumoured that in 1987, the men's club was formed at the instigation of the women who wanted their retired men-folk out from underfoot for a few hours. For 25 years, the men's club has provided fellowship, the opportunity to listen to interesting speakers, visit interesting places and participate in interesting activities for the past quarter of a century.

At the celebratory meeting, with a number of partners and guests, Past-President Lyall Osborne cute the anniversary cake and wished the club continued success.

The guest speaker was Dr Richard O'Brien, a former Irish Ambassador to Australia now living in Canberra, who spoke of the Irish influence.
