Probus member awarded OAM

Warwick Combined Probus Club member Ross Grayson has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to the community.

Mr Grayson said he was surprised and honoured to win the award. “You don’t do community service for rewards so it was a real honour to receive it.”

Mr Grayson has been a major part of the Killarney community, owning a stock station and real estate business. He has also been part of almost every committee in the town including the Apex Club, Killarney State School P&C, Killarney Show Society, Polo-Crosse Association and the Killarney and District Memorial Hospital and Aged Care, of which he was a member for 30 years and president for eight.

Mr Grayson helped build a secure dementia ward and eight aged-care units. It was a project dear to his heart because his dad had stayed there. “I realised how important it was to be able to keep long-time residents in town and in their own environment.”
