Tasmanian travels
20 Feb 2013
On Tuesday 6 November eighteen members of the Mt Gravatt club plus five visitors flew out of Brisbane with Tour Leader, Barry Westphal, bound for Tasmania for a twelve day comprehensive tour.
The group was met at Launceston airport by host and Coach Captain, Mike Walsh, who was born and bred in Tasmania and with his vast knowledge of the Apple Isle were assured of a wonderful tour.
Highlights of our stay in Launceston were the visit to the Cataract Gorge and the cruise on the Tamar River before moving down to Ross and then across to Bicheno on the East Coast.
They then proceeded down through Richmond to Hobart, the highlights of which were the cruise to Peppermint Bay opposite Bruny Island and the Tahune Airwalk in the Huon Valley.
Members moved west to Queenstown and the highlights were the Gordon River cruise and Cradle Mountain where the group photo was taken.
The group stayed in Stanley the last night where the motel overlooked the Ocean and the "Nut".
A return trip to the mainland on the Spirit of Tasmania was beautiful and after a City Sights tour of Melbourne, the group flew back to Brisbane.
It was a wonderful trip with good accommodation, good food and great fellowship.
