Quarter celebrations

Maffra Ladies celebrated its 25th anniversary at Duart Reception Rooms in June last year.
The celebrations were presided over by 2012-13 president Ms Laine Harvey who welcomed the 80 guests including 10 Sale Ladies’ Probians, 10 Maffra Men’s Probians and Maffra Rotary representative Neil Wishart.
The two-course meal was enjoyed by all and the celebratory birthday cake baked by Probian Kath Pleydell was cut by four of the five foundation members, Mavis Davidson, Marj Scriven, Heather Ollier and Jean Ashton with Melva Wehner sending an apology on the day.
The club was formed in 1987 with Rotarian, Neil Wishart instating the 22 foundation members and the foundation committee consisting of President Phyl Vardy, Secretary Jean Ashton, Treasurer Gwen Sager and assistant treasurer, activity director and photographer Heather Ollier.
By the time of the club’s first Annual General Meeting its membership had grown to 40, and currently membership is limited to 70 with a waiting list.
Mr Wishart congratulated the club on its successful 25 years, with Probian Jean Ashton responding.
The current President Laine Harvey, Secretary Jeanette Duggan, Treasurer Jan Wishart and the club’s committee members were congratulated by a number of speakers.
