Charlton Probus Clubs 10th Birthday Celebration

On Friday 8th July Charlton Probus celebrated their 10th Birthday. This took place at the Charlton Golf Club, and after the meeting members and guests moved to the tables which were decorated with tin (10 years) containers tied with ruby ribbon and filled with ruby flowers, also laid out with ruby serviettes (40 years) ,to enjoy a beautiful lunch which was catered for by the Charlton Golf Ladies.
Grace was read by John Storey (foundation Member who now resides in Geelong). Visitors came from St. Arnaud Combined and St. Arnaud Kara Kara , Wycheproof, Donald and Maryborough Probus Clubs.

The birthday cake was lit and cut by Lesley Cox and Margaret Wood, and Happy Birthday was sung to Probus Australia (40), and Charlton Probus (10).
We were entertained by 3 of the Wedderburn Oldtimers with their toe tapping, (wish we could still dance), and sing-a-long music which was enjoyed by all.
Memorabilia was on display, and everyone enjoyed the “slide show” of photos taken over the past 10 years that ran continually during the celebrations.
Rtn Bob Osborne, former Probus Chairman for district 9780, who with John Sutton was responsible for setting up the Charlton Probus club, congratulated the Club on its success and promised to attend our 20th birthday if he was still around.
Richard Bibby read the “Probus Farewell”, which officially ended the celebrations.
A big thank you to the Golf Ladies for their catering, Sharon Polkinghorne for the beautifully decorated cake, and the Charlton Probians who organized the Birthday Party.
