Fun, friendship & fellowship in Port Fairy
10 Dec 2018
52 members of the Probus Club of Ballarat South embarked on their 2nd Caravan & Camping venture for the year.
Port Fairy, with its interesting mix of ocean, wildlife and history, was a popular choice. The Big 4 Port Fairy Caravan Park paid special attention to the members during the 7 night stay, giving them exclusive access to the Shearwater room for group activities, and providing a delicious roast dinner with all the trimmings, and a pancake breakfast.
Members also loved the trivia and bingo nights, and took advantage of the luxurious indoor heated pool and the on-site mini golf course. For those who couldn’t get enough golf, a half-round at the Portland course was also played!
Other members enjoyed fishing, trips to Tower Hill and Warrnambool, and walks around the mutton bird sanctuary at Griffiths Island.
The marina and beach were explored, as well as the port which, during its heyday in the 1950s, was the second largest in Australia after Sydney.
The trip was declared by all a resounding success. It was a fun way to build friendship & fellowship with other members, and members highly recommend Port Fairy and its Big 4 Caravan Park to other Clubs looking for a destination for their next trip.
