Can’t control my dancing
05 Jan 2017
Do you freeze with fear when you hit the dance floor? Are you afraid of trying out a dance move or two at parties? Unfortunately, Clare Atkin from the Bega Probus Club suffers from the same problem.
I’ve got the ‘can’t control my dancing’ kinda blues
My head won’t send its message down into my shoes
and when I try to gyrate, I end up in an awful state
I’ve got the ‘can’t control my dancing’ kinda blues.
I’ve got the ‘can’t control my dancing’ kinda freeze
My feet have sent their troubles up into my knees
While other couples rock and roll
My body stands there, like a pole
I’ve got the ‘can’t control my dancing’ kinda blues.
What a sight I must look on the floor
What a shame I can’t dance anymore
When I try to compete with the rest
I end up in a pretty awful sort of mess.
I’m in a ‘can’t control my body’ kinda state
My brain and body simply won’t co-operate
So please take pity on my plight
Don’t ask to dance with me tonight
I’ve got the ‘can’t control my dancing’ kinda blues.
Clare is now in the running to win the annual Paul Henningham Award for Literary Excellence.
