Exploring nature’s wonders with Rolleston Central Probus Club

Rolleston Central Probus Club enjoyed a visit to Moffatts Nursery in Halswell.

Club members were divided into two groups and shown through the orchid house and given tips on how to grow them. These were in full bloom and looked stunning. The next glass house was the propagating shed and then the various indoor pot plants which were being prepared for delivery to retail nurseries, supermarkets and florists all over the South Island and some clients in the North Island.

The huge rose glass house was next. The roses are trained to be one stemmed and all are bundled into bunches according to colour from classic red to vibrant orange. The florists are able to create beautiful bouquets in varying sizes and prices from the blooms available.

Club members agreed that one could never tire of working with flowers.
