3 day tour to Mt Tamborine
05 Jun 2019
On a wet and dreary Wednesday in April, twenty five intrepid Probus Members from Alstonville and Ballina boarded the bus for a 3 day excursion to Mt Tamborine.
The trip promised to have something for everyone!
After a delicious morning tea at Currumbin Valley Rock Pools the group headed to the Museum of Australian Military Intelligence, Kokoda Barracks, Canungra. Here the Probus members learnt about the many theatres of war Australia has been involved in and the importance of military intelligence in each case. Discovering that two of our group had done their training at this site back in the last 60’s.
Next stop was O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard for the biggest Light lunch.
Staying the next two nights at Mt Tamborine Motel right next door to St Bernard’s Hotel where breakfast and dinner was served each day and drank in the spectacular view on offer.
The second day found us at the Mt Tamborine Botanic Gardens. You don’t have to be a gardener to appreciate the beauty, colour and dedication of the people entrusted to care for this site. It was magnificent. From there it was onto the Mt Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk. A destination not for the faint hearted, if you are afraid of heights and swaying walkways!
The final day started with a visit to Jasmin Organics Skincare Farm and Factory. Next stop Mt Tamborine Green Lane Coffee Plantation where the group was served the most magnificent muffins and scones with their delicious coffee, followed by a very informative tour of this delightful boutique plantation.
The three days were action packed with something for everyone - a little history, wine, gardens, nature at its best, walking trails, liqueurs you could only dream of, delicious cakes and coffee but best of all great company and many, many laughs.
