Seniors Expo: Walter Taylor Ward
Director Judith Maestracci, Ambassador Barry Read and the Probus Clubs of Indooroopilly, Indooroopilly West, Brisbane West, Chapel Hill and Taringa were involved in the successful Expo.
Report from Ambassador Barry Read:
The Mini Expo/morning tea held at Indooroopilly Uniting Church on Thursday 12 September had good success. There were 46 visitors, all potential members, who were each given promotional material with contact details of the Clubs within the Walter Taylor Ward. Twenty left their contact details which will be forwarded on to relevant Clubs to follow up. Each of the Clubs within the Ward was represented and their members also spoke with individuals about Probus and were free to give them personal details re their own Club.
The event was arranged principally with a grant under The Lord Mayor’s Suburban Initiatives Fund from Cr James Mackay, Walter Taylor Ward. Cr Mackay was keen to promote Probus with his Ward promotional material. Other promotion support was obtained with cash contributions and provision of morning tea. Several community organisations had representatives present and were enthusiastic to network with Probus, which will be explored further.
Funding was provided from PSPL for advertising. Copy has also been provided to the editor of Westside News for an article. Director Judith Maestracci also spoke on ABC radio about the event and several people spoke of having heard the radio presentation.
