Fondue ideas to try at home

Chocolate Fondue

Is there anything more decadent than fondue? This chocolate version comes together in a flash and can satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth.

  • 2 cups of full cream milk
  • 1/2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 and 1/3 cups of milk chocolate chips

  • Sliced bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Cake
  • Marshmallows
  • Pretzel rods
  • Apples
  • Graham crackers

1) In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, cream, vanilla, and salt. When bubbles begin to form around the edge of the pan, remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Let the chocolate sit for 5 minutes undisturbed, then whisk until smooth. Serve with dippers of your choice.

Best-Ever Cheese Fondue

Few foods are more fun to eat than a good old-fashioned cheese fondue. Not only is it a fun throwback to the fondue craze of the 70's but it is up there in some of the best foods for a small party.

  • 150gm shredded Gruyère
  • 150gm shredded gouda
  • 225gm shredded Fontina
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and halved
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • Cubed crusty bread
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Sliced apples
  • Cornichons

1) In a bowl, toss cheeses with cornstarch. Rub garlic cloves all over the inside of a sauce pan, then discard.

2) Over medium heat, add wine to saucepan and bring to a simmer. Add cheese mixture in four batches, whisking constantly and letting cheese melt completely between additions.

3) Add mustard and stir just until fondue begins to bubble, about 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

4) Serve hot with bread, cherry tomatoes, apples, and cornichons.
