Catch up with Maroondah
20 Jun 2014
Catch up with the bicycle group, the annual bowls day and the caravan and cabins trip.
Members of the Two Tyred Bicycle group enjoyed a great ride around the Botanical Gardens in Cranbourne. Those that did not ride, visited a quilt exhibition at the centre, then spent some time walking around the gardens, eventually both groups met together for a picnic lunch.
Those members of the club who are bowlers thoroughly enjoyed the Annual Probus Bowls Day at Heathmont as you can see by their faces! They did reasonably well also.
At the AGM, Jan Young was inducted as a life member. Jan has been a member of the club since 2004. She has been on the committee for seven years, as publicity/liaison officer, and was president in 2011-2012. Jan really enjoys the philosophy of Probus and participates in as many activities as possible.
At the end of March, 46 members travelled to Bendigo for the cabins and caravans activity. Bendigo and its environs are so worth visiting. Apart from the usual morning walks and evening happy hours, members visited various areas and sights. The well-known Art Gallery had the Genius and Ambition Exhibition from the Royal Academy of the Arts, the Chinese Museum, the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion at Myers Flat and for a bit of frivolity, Confectionery Capers an amazing collection of animated items to challenge the mind.
