Probus Club of Port Stephens celebrations on Australia Day
06 Mar 2018
The Probus Club of Port Stephens had a lot to celebrate on Australia Day after a group of members attended the early morning presentation of Port Stephens Council Awards at the Raymond Terrace ceremony. Much loved and respected member of 28 years, Leon Lindsay, was awarded a Port Stephens Medal for his contribution to the local community.
He was so happy just to be nominated and to be chosen to receive the medal was a real bonus for Leon after battling some recent health issues. There were so many very deserving nominees so the club is extremely proud of Leon. He is a very valued member of the Probus community and was awarded a Life Membership in 2014.
After joining Port Stephens Probus he continually volunteered to take on committee roles as well as organize numerous activities for his fellow members.
Along with his wife Cathy, he is a very involved resident of Fingal Haven Retirement Village. He quietly gives of his time to unwell members and friends; just a visit or a chat and often driving them to Newcastle for medical appointments.
