Warrnambool ahoy
20 May 2017
A group of 18 from the Syndal Combined Probus Club recently used their free V/Line tickets for a few days of sightseeing, fun and friendship in and around Warrnambool.
The first day included visits to Flagstaff Hill and the Maritime Village, followed by a tour around places of interest in the Warrnambool area. These included Cannon Hill, the Botanical Gardens, and Hopkins Falls. The day was rounded out by dinner and a light and sound show at the Maritime Village.
Day two was very busy with a visit to the whale watching platform, then it was on to Port Campbell for lunch. The group also visited the Bay of Islands, Loch Ard Gorge and the Twelve Apostles. On the way back to base, members followed the ‘Gourmet Trail’, with opportunities to taste local produce and purchase cheese, chocolates, and wine.
The final touring day included a visit to Fletcher Jones Garden and Market before the group continued on to Port Fairy for a walk to the lighthouse. Then it was lunch and a stroll around town. On the return trip the group visited Tower Hill Reserve and the visitor centre nestled inside the dormant volcano before enjoying a lovely dinner.
