An update from Whyalla Norrie

The Whyalla Norrie Probus Club has had a very busy couple of months lately.

A large group including members from the Ladies’ Probus Club enjoyed a four-day trip to the Renmark Rose Festival and visited many interesting venues, including an art gallery, historic houses, museums, wineries and a very entertaining cruise on the River Murray.

Members enjoyed a Melbourne Cup lunch at Roopena Football Club and prizes were won by both the men and women for their interesting hats. The Christmas dinner was held at West Whyalla football club and once again everyone was served an excellent meal followed by entertainment from the Memorial Oval School "Zombies", the Whyalla Ukulele Group. The ever-popular Peter Brown also provided the music and sing a long.

Three new members were inducted into the club by the President Tony Shaw and we welcomed Shirley Gabb and Annette and John Kirby.

The last speaker for the year was Lyn Breuer, who talked about the difficulties and the happy times she had as an MP. Lyn is now enjoying her retirement but misses her travels and meeting the people in our huge electorate.

To celebrate the start of 2015, members enjoyed a BBQ and the opportunity to chat about the festive season and what they are hoping for the future.

Our Probus club always welcome new members and we meet at the West Whyalla Football club on the first Tuesday of each month starting 10am.  If you are retired and looking for something to do you are most welcome.
