Keith goes to Bendigo
05 Dec 2012
Members of the Keith Probus Club, accompanied by three ladies from Bordertown Probus travelled to Bendigo on our annual trip. This year members spent three nights at Bendigo and had a great time.
At Bendigo the group stayed at the Oval Motel, which was in walking distance to the main town area. Highlights of the time away were a trip on the Talking Tram, a step back to another era, which most of us could remember, when trams were a popular form of transport (especially in Adelaide and suburbs).
Whilst on the journey the group stopped at the Joss House Museum and were shown around by a member of the National Trust, who explained the significance of this temple. They also travelled to the Golden Dragon Chinese Museum where they were greeted by the driving force of the museum who discussed early Chinese History of Bendigo and also plans for future development of the area.
Bendigo Pottery was a must, and a morning was spent there, watching a pottery demonstration, having a go, visiting the attached museum and also the smaller galleries that are on site. Retail therapy at the pottery was also a must, and most came home bearing gifts from the outlet shop.
Whilst there the group also socialised with some members of the Bendigo Probus Clubs over dinner.
