Fraser Coast-Hervey Bay Probus - Lake Redbrook.
The Club just finished a four-day caravan and camping trip to Lake Redbrook outside of Childers.
Twenty members camped, while another twenty arrived by bus for a Winedown. There was a wine tasting, featuring Italian and local wines, followed by a roast meal. The proprietor cooked a pig on the spit for the members, served with roast vegetables and a delicious desert.
The camping members travelled to Bundaberg, visiting a new gin distillery, then a seafood lunch overlooking the Burnett River. They also visited the historical Cordalba Hotel, which was featured in the movie “Mango Tree”. Also in the itinerary was a visit to the town of Childers for lunch.
Lake Redbrook has much to see in the way of wildlife, a flock of deer, peacocks, water fowl, all manner of birdlife, and fishing in the dam is also catered for.
At night members had barbeques and socialised in the camp kitchen and round the fire pit.
There was a hotly contested golf putting competition, while two members who are keen bowlers went to Childers for a game.
This was a well-planned and enjoyable outing for our members. The Management Committee is sure that it could turn into an annual event.
