Steaming ahead

Gold Creek Probus Club ACT recently toured some of the sights of Goulburn NSW.

This photo shows the visitors and the 1866 Hicks Hargreaves Corliss valve engine, installed at Goulburn's Historic Pumping Station and Waterworks Museum on the Wollondilly River.

The original pump was powered by a steam-powered beam engine. This engine is the only working engine of its kind, left in its original location, in the Southern Hemisphere.

Other features of the of the day trip, organised with the help of Goulburn Tourist Bureau, included morning tea with the CWA, St Saviour's Cathedral, Garroorigang Historic Homestead and lunch at the town's historic Paragon Cafe.
