Morning tea
06 Feb 2014
Members of the Whitsunday Probus Club welcomed visitors from the Rathmines & Wangi Probus Club to the Whitsundays.
Our Vice-President, Alison Holmes, opened her home for a special morning tea provided by all of the Whitsunday members.
Our visitors were on a cruise and while anchored off shore in the Whitsundays were invited to join us and in some instances to renew old friendships with the members of our club.
The visitors were picked up from Able Point Marina by car and taken to Alison's home. During morning tea, Alison's son, Andrew, gave a very interesting talk on the sugar cane industry. Andrew's sugar cane farm has been in their family for many years. Samples of the actual cane were given to the guests to look at while Andrew explained the intricate production and processing of the cane.
A small group of Whitsunday Probus members present are also members of the local "Choral C Voices" who are a choir that performs at many charity events and special occasions in the Whitsunday area. These singers entertained our guests with a few well known songs.
The friendship between our clubs has now been guaranteed.
