Embarking on a day trip to Overland Corner

Members of the Golden Grove and Mawson Lakes Probus Clubs recently embarked on a memorable day trip to Overland Corner, a historic location north of Kingston-on-Murray that played a significant role in the early days of transportation between New South Wales and Adelaide.
By 1855, Overland Corner had transformed into a thriving settlement with a police station, horse staging building, blacksmith shop, wheelwright's shop, and general store. In 1859, a hotel was constructed, and at times, as many as 30,000 sheep grazed on the river flat near the hotel. The Probus members were captivated by the rich history of Overland Corner and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to explore this fascinating location.
