25 years of Teralba Ladies club
13 Feb 2014
A beautiful day and a view of Lake Macquarie through the club's marina was the setting for our 25th birthday luncheon with 89 members and their guests seated at tables decorated in silver and purple.
First item on the agenda was the presentation of a certificate and 25-year pin to 13 members who joined during 1988, Ray Davies, Rotary District Probus Chairman and President Joan Moore doing the honours.
Leah Irwin who had opened her home each month to members of the Crochet Group (better known as Leah's Angels) who, in fluctuating numbers, have enjoyed the fellowship, fun and fine food while practicing their craft was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Thelma Morgan, one of the ‘Angels’.
Entertainment by Philip Crawshaw, multi instrumentalist and singer entertained the gathering with a selection of songs from Roll out the Barrel to Phantom of the Opera and beyond.
Lunch was followed by the cutting of the cake by President Joan and the inaugural members.
Further entertainment by Philip Crawshaw resulted in several members enjoying the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance.
Everyone present took home a comprehensive booklet covering lists of office bearers, helpful hints and amusing stories, a gift fan, and chocolates. Many had also won a prize from the Tombola. Norma Wilkinson won the raffle, a colourful crocheted rug made and donated by Joy White.
