Visit to Ronald McDonald House
09 Jul 2016
Our visit was initiated by last years outings officers after an inspiring talk given by Narissa Richardson from Ronald McDonald House Canberra as a guest speaker to our club.
Ronald McDonald house was only opened in 2012 as part of the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children and the convenient location of the house inside the hospital ensures antenatal patients are cared for and nursing mothers are close by their baby’s side 24 hours a day. The house features 11 en-suite guestrooms for families including double, single & disability access. In addition the house offers families communal facilities such as a full kitchen, dining room, lounge room, laundry, a quiet room and 2 computer nooks which we were shown over.
Volunteers ensure the house is manned 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and supply a variety of resources to make families stay a little more comfortable including food, beverage, toiletries, linen & love!
The visit was offered to members and 15 attended this inspirational place which we followed up with lunch at the Southern Cross Club Woden. A wonderful day out thank you Fay and Betty.
