Carol Burns visits Inooroopilly Probus Club
01 Sep 2014
Actress Carol Burns amused and entertained members of the Probus Club of Indooroopilly with recollections of the many roles she has played and the people with whom she has worked.
She talked about 'inhabiting' her roles for the stage, television and big screen. She spoke passionately about the Queensland Theatre Company and encouraged audience members to consider the preparation actors go through in order to perform. For instance, she often practised every day actions (like making a cup of tea) to observe how long it takes so that she can be believable in whatever role comes her way.
She first met actor Geoffrey Rush (and the club’s own Iain Audsley) when they performed at Twelfth Night Theatre in Brisbane, and she hosted his 21st birthday party at her house.
Many members were anxious to meet Carol after her talk and to have their photographs taken with her. Carol was thanked by our own 'triple threat’ John Bean, who has worked as a musical performer.
