We're going on a holiday
17 Apr 2015
On a sunny Sunday thirty-five members took off to the Queenscliffe’s Bellarine Rail Trail. We had the carriage to ourselves, which was just as well, as we were as noisy as a bunch of schoolkids on an excursion!
On return, we headed for our accommodation at the Point Lonsdale Guest House, where we settled into our cosy rooms and headed for our Happy Hour in the gardens, followed by a delicious dinner provided by our hosts, Sue and Peter. To finish the evening off, we enjoyed a singalong of well-known Australian classic songs.
After breakfast, we took off for Point Lonsdale’s Light House tour with the more fit members walking to the top for a magnificent lookout. Over the next few days, we took part in the Queenscliffe Fort tour, the Heritage Walking Tour and the Maritime Museum. In between, we managed to fit in some delicious lunches at the many local eateries, with lots of shopping.
Our last night was a laugh with our own Sale of the Century-style quiz. Teams of four competed for the big prizes – the winners being presented with a beautiful model car. However we all agreed that the runners-up had the better prize - a flying pink pig - a perpetual trophy now for future runners-up.
We would also like to thank the Bendigo Bank who sponsored a good sum of money towards these enjoyable activities.
