Touring Etihad
13 Jan 2014
Thirty three members and wives recently travelled by train to Melbourne for a tour of Etihad Stadium and the Police Museum.
On arrival at Southern Cross station the first port of call was for morning tea. Popular items on the menu were hot chocolate, aromatic coffee and pecan slice.
After morning tea it was on to Etihad Stadium which proved most interesting. The Legends Bar has all the photos of the football champions and one of our members spent a considerable time looking for his photo only to be disappointed. He could not find it.
Leaving Etihad it was off to the Police Museum a leisurely walk of about one and a half kilometres. The museum was of great interest as there is a piece of wallpaper from the Mt. Cole police station. Also on display is the Kelly gang armour and many exhibits of considerable interest.
After leaving the museum we went to the historic Mission to Seafarers which has now stood for a hundred years in the same location. An interesting place, full of history.
Some members then took the circle tram to the station where all enjoyed a meal before boarding the train for home.
A most enjoyable day was had by all who participated.
