Trip back in time to the Historic Mary Valley Rattler
05 Jun 2019
Fraser Coast-Hervey Combined Probus Club went back in time as they took a trip on the Historic Mary Valley Rattler.
The train departed Gympie station and travelled to the little town of Amamoor in the Mary Valley. Members enjoyed morning tea at Amamoor, before returning to Gympie for lunch. The beautifully restored Gympie Station was our venue. Gympie’s Platform No 1 Café served our lunch on the station platform.
The Mary Valley is unique, in that all drivers, guards and other station personnel are volunteers. Members of the Fraser Coast-Hervey Combined Club all had a marvellous time, even though some got some coal dust in their eyes – just to remind us all of times gone by.
