Day Trip to Gloucester
16 May 2016
Members from Probus Club of Oxley recently enjoyed a day trip to Gloucester to visit the Hillview Herb Farm via Nabiac.
Our first stop of the day was in the sleepy village of Nabiac situated on the Wallamba River, originally a small river port it is now a delightful little stopping point for tourist travelling the Pacific Highway. The group enjoyed morning tea at a charming café. After a bite to eat we then had time for a stroll through the village where the variety of shops made browsing a very pleasurable experience for everyone.
Leaving Nabiac we travelled through picturesque country to just south of Gloucester to the Hillview Herb Farm and were rewarded with magnificent views of the Bucketts Mountains on the left and the Mograni Range on the right. We then enjoyed a walk around the garden and an information session on all things Herbs. A BBQ lunch was served on the spacious verandah. After lunch we were able to purchase some local produce, the favourites being Plum Jam, Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce and Nanna’s pickles.
After lunch we boarded the bus for the return journey, just one quick stop at Nabiac for ice cream and then back to Port Macquarie.
A really most enjoyable day out.
