Winners are grinners

Congratulations to first place winner of the Probus National Photographic Competition, Berys McEvoy from the Ringwood Clock Tower Probus Club in Victoria. Berys was thrilled with her prize – a Mediterranean cruise for two valued at $25,000, thanks to Cruise Traveller and Voyages to Antiquity.

Berys’ winning photo was snapped during her club’s trip to Bright during autumn.  Five of her fellow Probians are in the shot, having fun tossing the golden leaves up into the air.

Since she was a young girl, Berys has had a great passion for photography. In fact, her first job after she left school was working at Kodak in Brisbane, where she was involved in every aspect of the processing, such as mounting, enlarging and printing the photos.

She’s now the official photographer of her Probus club and regularly takes her camera along to her club’s outings and holidays.

“I take myself out nearly every day to shoot photos. I live in the beautiful Yarra Valley, where there are so many photo opportunities out here during all the different seasons, she says.

“I love everything about photography. When I look around, I can see a photo in anything – it’s just part of me.”

The celebratory dinner was attended by the six finalists of the competition, as well as PSPL Chairman Douglas Geekie and the teams at Trade Travel and PSPL. As the guests sailed around the harbour that evening, each of the finalists shared the fascinating stories behind their photos while enjoying a sumptuous three-course meal.

The next Probus National Photographic Competition has just launched and we’re giving away $35,000 worth of fantastic prizes.
