Keep on clubbing

In the UK, seniors night clubs are the next big thing with Tea Party Raves a fun way to connect.

As reported in Vice UK, a range of night clubs for the elderly are helping to combat loneliness in a fun way by holding club nights in a number of locations across London and the south-east of England.

It’s known as The Posh Club, and the website says that these seniors clubs are designed to be more fun than your average old-age shindig.

“Each three-hour event is styled as a tongue-in-cheek ‘posh’ 1940s afternoon tea with three live show business turns, volunteer waiters in black tie, vintage crockery and an in-house pianist,” the club said.

The theme is to hark back to the youth of many of the participants, many of whom are 60-plus – and, due to the age of many “clubbers”, these parties often take place in the early afternoon.

The Posh Club was created by Simon Casson and Annie Bowden, siblings who started the event for their own mum.

The gatherings are designed to help older people recapture the social nature of their
younger years.
