Yeppoon never stops learning
21 Jul 2014
Probians recently enjoyed a tour of St Brendan’s College (SBC).
Principal Nick Scully welcomed the Probus Club with morning tea explaining the formation and operation of Edmund Rice Schools. SBC has a proud tradition of following the principles of Edmund Rice, educating boys from all walks of life as boarders or day students.
Nick and Kevin Smith led a guided tour of the college including the hospitality classroom where Probians were treated to coffee made by baristas learning the trade. Another highlight included inspecting six new classrooms in preparation for 2015 year 7 and year 8 students, complete with a 30-kilowatt solar power system and an open lawn area. A new dormitory under construction is designed to ease the transition period from year 7 to the older classes; minimising concern for parents and young students who may never have been away from home before.
On completion of the tour, Probian Dennis Curren, a past pupil of SBC, thanked Nick and Kevin for an enjoyable and informative morning.
