The following examples provide an indication of the breadth of club activities in recent years, despite the intervention of COVID pandemic restrictions.

Bowls

Held at Scarborough Wombarra Bowling Club on the first Thursday of each month. Many of the players also enjoy lunch at the Bowling Club's Black Duck Bistro.

Golf

Held at various golf clubs across the Illawarra and parts of Sudney on the second Friday of each month (first Friday in December). Locations include Albion Park, Auburn, Beverley Park, Bexley, Cabramatta, Campbelltown, Canterbury, Georges Hall, Jamberoo, Lidcombe, Liverpool, Moorebank, Russell Vale, Wollongong and Woolooware.

Foot and mouth

'Foot and mouth' is the club's term for an interesting walk or exhibition visit followed by lunch at a nearby pub or club or as a picnic. It is held on the fourth Thursday of each month, excluding January. Less mobile members bypass the walk and attend the lunch.

  • Como: Bridge crossing to Oatley and return
  • Concord: Rivendell walk

  • Glebe: Foreshore & Fish Market
  • Kiama: Blowhole & Harbour
  • Kurnell: Kamay Botany Bay National Park
  • Loftus: Tramway Museum
  • Miranda: Putt Planet Golf
  • Parramatta: via River Cat
  • Port Kembla: Steelworks Historic Tour
  • Stanwell Park: Coastal walk to Coalcliff and return
  • Sydney: Anzac Memorial & Hyde Park
  • Sydney: Museum of Sydney
  • Sydney: Sydney Harbour Bridge
  • Sydney: The Rocks Historic Tour
  • Wollongong: Blue Mile Walk & Wollongong Museum

Day coach trips

These one-day coach trip outings generally go to venues which are less accessible by public transport.

Destinations have included the following:

  • Auburn: Auburn Botanic Gardens
  • Badgery's Creek: included airport development and Warragamba Dam
  • Camden and surrounds: included Burragorang and The Oaks
  • Little Bay: Prince Henry Nurses & Medical Museum
  • Robertson and surrounds: included Burrawang and Fitzroy Falls.

Longer trips

There is usually a multi-day coach trip each year. In recent years they have included:

  • Beechworth and Bright
  • Canberra: Highlights tour and Floriade
  • Mudgee and surrounds
  • Parkes and surrounds.

Recent cruises have included:

  • Sydney and surrounds: including Australia Day celebrations
  • Tasmania and Kangaroo Island.

Overseas trips have been limited by COVID in recent years, though there was a much-enjoyed trip to Norfolk Island.

Other activities

On several occasions members have visited a member's garden, followed by morning tea.

On other occasions, lunch has been the main purpose of an outing, without a prior walk. Venues have included Doyle's Watsons's Bay, Engadine Bowling Club, Taren Point Bowling Club and Woronora RSL. 

Engadine Tavern was the venue for a special celebration of '0' birthdays for members turning 70, 80 or 90.

On other occasions members have attended a High Tea at NSW Parliament House or the Premier's Gala Concert at Dartling Harbour.

Each year there is a Christmas in July lunch (in July) and Christmas lunch in December. Recent venues have included Club Heathcote (Heathcote), Headlands Hotel (Austinmer), Helensburgh Hotel (Helensburgh) and Panorama House (Maddens Plains).

There is also a President's Picnic held, usually in April or May. A popular recent venue has been Woronora Dam.
