Lauderdale Combined Probus began its 50th Anniversary celebrations in January with a fun Quiz Day to which other Probus clubs were invited. This was followed by a BBQ picnic at Tolosa Park on February, 50 years to the day of the founding of Probus in Australia.
In October, the Probus 50th Anniversary lunch was perhaps the highlight of the celebrations. Other clubs, past members and members of the community were invited. Representatives from the local Council, including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, also joined members for a memorable day of fun and friendship.
A dedicated team of committee members and volunteers treated everyone to a wonderful light lunch, and foundation member Allison Rackett (1990) cut the anniversary cake. The Mayor, Brendan Blomeley, acknowledged the Club’s efforts and the importance of Probus clubs generally.
Rounding off a most enjoyable day, the Bellerive Ukelele Group, which included five of the Club’s members, provided some upbeat entertainment, culminating with a Happy Birthday to Probus.
