In honour of the 50th Anniversary of Probus in Australia, Brisbane City Council invited Probus to three special events.
The Lord Mayor hosted a reception for 80 people who had made a significant contribution to their Club, as judged by their peers. Caroline Nelson, Director and Representative Member for Queensland, was invited in her capacity as Queensland Membership Representative on the Board of PSPL to address the full Council about the benefits that Probus brings to people in their post-work lives.
Finally, Probus members were invited to attend the Seniors Tuesday lunchtime concert featuring the songs of the Andrews Sisters on 29 September. The auditorium was filled to capacity, with 800 attendees. Queues were forming as early as 10 am, and Probus members had a display table with brochures and Probus bags to hand out.
There were perhaps 200 members attending, and a picture of some of them was taken after the event. Lots of flyers were distributed to the general public, with the hope that there would be increased activity on the PSPL website. Local Membership Representatives will follow up with all those who left their names and details.
It was wonderful seeing members interacting with members from different Clubs and the positive response of the general public to the distribution of flyers promoting Probus.
