Over one hundred and thirty members of Probus Clubs throughout East Gippsland came together in Maffra on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, to celebrate fifty years of Probus in Australia.
The event was hosted by Maffra Ladies Probus, and members attended from Sale Ladies Probus, Sale Combined Probus, Bairnsdale Probus, Paynesville Probus, Orbost Probus and Traralgon Combined Probus, as well as Maffra Probus (men’s club).
Dawn Clark, President of Maffra Ladies Probus, welcomed guests, who were entertained by Don, a local bush poet, and sang along with the “Singing Ukes”, a group of ladies who play ukuleles, part of the Maffra Band.
Michael Ransom, Chair of PSPL, attended and spoke about how important Probus Clubs are in local communities. Rob Christie, Chair of the Community Bank Maffra and District (Bendigo Bank), which assisted financially with the event, also spoke.
It was a great day and a wonderful opportunity for Probus members from all over East Gippsland to get together in a spirit of fun and friendship.
