Shared Adventures, Twice the Fun!

They say shared experiences are what friendship is all about!

Members of the Ryde City Combined Probus Club recently joined forces with the Carlingford North Rocks Probus Club for an unforgettable “Brushstrokes of the Bush” road trip. Together, the group travelled approximately 2,000 kilometres, exploring the remarkable silo, water tank, and street murals scattered throughout regional NSW. Their extensive itinerary included Portland, Harden, Grenfell, Eugowra, Cowra, Molong, Dunedoo, Barraba, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Quirindi, Merriwa, and Kurri Kurri.

The journey was filled with unexpected highlights. Their bus driver, Peter, delighted the group with a surprise boomerang-throwing demonstration, adding an extra touch of fun to the adventure.

One of the most memorable moments occurred in Quirindi, where Jason, CEO of the Walhallow Local Aboriginal Lands Council, noticed the group’s bus arriving and generously offered to share the story behind the local silo artwork. Members eagerly accepted the opportunity to learn about the Dreamtime story of Yarrandaali, the creator of the Liverpool Plains, along with the big red kangaroo, the smaller blue kangaroos, and the children looking towards the future. Hearing these stories firsthand from a local Aboriginal leader made the experience particularly meaningful.

Beyond the stunning artwork, the trip provided plenty of laughter, engaging conversations, and the opportunity to build lasting friendships between members of the two clubs.
