To celebrate 50 years of Probus in Australia, the City of Mandurah hosted a civic reception for the six Mandurah Probus Clubs.
The invitation recognised the valuable role Probus Clubs play in supporting retired and semi-retired people within the community by providing opportunities for connection, purpose and companionship at every stage of life.
The oldest Club in the City of Mandurah, Mandurah Probus Club, was founded in March 1984, followed closely by Mandurah Ladies Probus Club in May 1985. Today, Mandurah is home to six Probus Clubs with more than 400 members.
Mayor Amber Kearns acknowledged the dedication of the volunteer members who help their Clubs thrive through their enthusiasm and service. Each Club received a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Mandurah in recognition of its contribution to shaping and strengthening the local community.
In his response to the Mayor, Brian Hoult, WA Representative and Director of PSPL, noted that the 50th anniversary was not only a celebration of the past, but also a promise for the future.
Brian was also thanked for coordinating the civic reception and bringing the Mandurah Probus Clubs together for this special joint celebration.
