The annual Seniors Exposition, organised by the Council on the Ageing (COTA), brings people together, fosters community connections and showcases the many opportunities available to older Australians. Each year, the four Top End Probus clubs join forces to promote Probus, with the Palmerston Probus hosting this year’s stand.
Careful preparation ensured the display was welcoming, informative and well stocked with brochures highlighting the many benefits of Probus membership. Visitors were encouraged to stop for a chat, collect information and, naturally, the ever-popular Probus pen proved to be the giveaway of choice.
Throughout the Seniors Exposition, members welcomed a steady stream of visitors keen to learn more about the friendship, fellowship and fun that Probus offers. Many were surprised by the wide variety of activities available through the clubs and appreciated the opportunity to speak directly with members about their Probus experiences.
By the end of the day, the clubs had received enquiries from prospective members, along with offers from people interested in becoming future guest speakers. These contacts were shared among the four Top End clubs so enquiries could be directed to the club closest to each person’s home.
The Seniors Exposition was another outstanding team effort and a successful opportunity to promote Probus across the Top End while raising awareness of all that Probus has to offer.
