An eye opening experience

On August 14th a group of enthusiastic members and partners from the Hobart Probus (Men’s) Club were shown around the IMAS Research facility in Taroona, a southern suburb of Hobart.

This eye opening experience allowed members to be shown the salmon research facility and the associated research being undertaken, a learned discourse on the exciting progress being made to grow lobster to commercial size for production and the associated success in growing Moreton Bay Bugs as a commercial product.

A talk from a PHD candidate on her research into sea-life showed us the breadth of interest and the commitment of the scientists to their projects.

Members appreciated the opportunity during Science Week to have this rare chance to visit this facility.
