St Helens Combined Probus Club member celebrates 100th Birthday
29 Jul 2016
St Helens Combined Probus Club was very excited recently, to get in early to help Mrs Ursula Parsons celebrate the occasion of her 100th birthday.
A member of Probus since 1999, she attends meetings when she is able, is a valued member of the club, and is now an Honorary Member. Her birthday which was on the 21st of March, was celebrated by the many groups of which she is a member. She says she could hardly keep up with the parties! St Helens Combined Probus celebrated with her at our AGM on March 14th, with congratulations and a beautiful bunch of flowers.
Mrs Parsons received congratulatory cards from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove and from our local member of Parliament Eric Hutchinson MP, as well as from many others. She is proudly pictured here with her card from the Queen.
Ursula is an accomplished cook and craftswoman and is famous for her beautiful knitting and crocheting, her delicious Christmas cakes, and cheese straws – a family favourite !
When asked the secret of her long life, she replied that she believes her close and loving family are her greatest love, and the source of her strength and happiness.
Congratulations Ursula!
