Combined Probus Club of Paraparaumu Marks Anniversary Milestone

Eighty members of the Combined Probus Club of Paraparaumu gathered at Club Vista on Tuesday, November 21st, to celebrate the club's 20th Jubilee with an Anniversary Champagne Breakfast. Included among them were several founding members, like Don and Mary, who were involved even before the Club's official formation.

In one of several speeches delivered to the anniversary breakfast attendees, Don recounted the club's beginnings in 2003. Recognising the district's significant population growth, particularly among those over 65, Rotary leaders in Paraparaumu held a public meeting to gauge interest in forming organised clubs for seniors. The response was overwhelming, leading to the creation of two Probus Clubs. Only the Combined Probus Club of Paraparaumu remains active within the Probus network.

During the breakfast, current president Margie highlighted how the Club has become an integral part of members' lives, primarily through the diverse activities organised by its sub-groups each month. The Club’s two life members, Caroline, and Tom reminisced about notable moments from the past two decades before cutting the anniversary cake (shown in the picture).
