A visit to the Travis Wetland
15 Oct 2024
The Rolleston Central Probus Club’s Out & About group’s October visit was to the Travis Wetland, a Nature Heritage Park at Burwood.
There is a 3.4km board walk around the wetlands where many species of wetland birds could be seen. There were even some cygnets and ducklings.
The wetlands were once drained and became a farm. Now it is administered by Christchurch City Council and is a haven for native birds.
There are plenty of seats available and a lookout tower, providing an excellent scenery.
To top it all off, a scrumptious lunch was had at the nearby café where the food was exceptional and the friendly service outstanding.
