The Global Wellness Institute describes wellness as the active pursuit of activities, choices, and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health. In January, Logan Village Probus members certainly kicked off 2026 with a couple of unique activities that were fun as well as beneficial to mind, body, and soul.
Their first activity was a visit to Salt and Soul in Jimboomba, where 26 members experienced the meditative and therapeutic benefits of their Salt Cave. For some members, it was their first time. After donning some trendy blue plastic bootees, they settled back and let the salt do its thing. Salt caves, or halotherapy, are believed to offer various health benefits, particularly for respiratory issues, skin conditions, and stress relief. After the sessions, members continued the fellowship with a cuppa and a scone on Salt and Soul’s veranda. It was so popular that they have scheduled more sessions throughout the year.
Their second activity was a Living Art Workshop at the Waterford Garden Centre. Eighteen members created some beautiful outdoor wall art with succulents. Aside from the benefits of being outside in the fresh air and getting their hands down and dirty with plants and potting mix, they had lots of fun. Research indicates the psychological impact of creating art with “living plants” can reduce stress levels and enhance overall well-being, which it certainly did during this activity.
