Member honoured with OAM

In the 2023 Australia Day Honours List, Wanniassa Probus Club’s Phil Greenwood was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the not-for-profit sector, and as a volunteer.
The Governor-General announced the award on 26 January 2023.
Phil is a Foundation Member of the Wanniassa Probus Club and has been active in its establishment.
After 23 years of RAAF service, retiring as a Wing Commander, Phil worked in the not-for profit sector for over 20 years, including seven years as the CEO of the John James Foundation, a large medical charity. During this time, the Foundation, under his leadership, built John James Village in Garran ACT to provide accommodation units for patients undergoing Leukaemia treatment and their families. The facility includes office and meeting space for the Leukaemia Foundation.
He has been an active Justice of the Peace since 2012 and completed training as a Volunteer in Policing to make further use of his JP experience. He has performed a wide range of activities as a volunteer with ACT Policing.
Phil is the Vice President the Cancer Council ACT. He has been a member of Rotary since 1996 and more recently a Foundation Member of the Wanniassa Probus Club, a club he helped set up.
For his military service, Phil was awarded the Australian Service Medal with Clasp SE Asia, the Defence Force Service Medal with First Clasp, and the Australian Defence Medal.
His OAM for service to the not-for-profit sector, and as a volunteer joins this medal group.
