Burpengary Probus celebrate Queensland Day

This year, the Burpengary Probus Club has had themes for each meeting.

For April, it was Blanko Day and they were all dressed in white. For May, they had Flapper Day. In June, they celebrated Queensland Day.

This was a special day when many of the members of the Club dressed in cool Queensland attire. The President led the way dressed in a Queensland State of Origin jersey, complete with an Origin flag. There were two winners on the day, who both received lunch vouchers from the local tavern.

On the day, they inducted nine new members into the Club. Six of these members moved from another Club due to travel time as they all live within minutes of Burpengary. They also sang the unofficial Queensland Anthem, “Life is great in the Sunshine State” to which the members sang with great gusto.

Their guest speaker for the day was Rose, a representative from “Rosies on the Street” Caboolture. Rose spoke about her work with homeless people. Members donated food items to “Rosies.” There was also 20 scarves and beanies donated.  These were hand knitted by Jeanette. She had been travelling in Tasmania, Victoria, and South Australia, and had knitted them while her husband Sean drove.

This was followed by lunch at the Burpengary Tavern. Another fantastic day of Fun, Friendship and Fellowship at Burpengary Probus.
