Hello from St Helens

We’re a Probus club from a small town on the east coast of Tasmania called St Helens. During our visit to Hobart, we visited the Museum of New Art, and stayed at Wrest Point Hotel. 

The next day, we visited Government House and were welcomed by the staff and Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner. We had a delicious morning tea and chatted with her in one of the beautiful reception rooms. The atmosphere was very relaxed and Her Excellency charmed us all with her humour and friendly approach. 

We were then taken on a tour of the state rooms, the ballroom and the dining room being particularly memorable. The dining room was set for a banquet that evening and glittered with crystal and silver and superb floral arrangements. We then explored the gardens and buildings, which surround the beautiful old building. 

We had a wonderful trip and we are looking forward to meeting Her Excellency again in November when she visits St Helens.
