Probus Club of Tea Tree Gully visit to Kenton Valley Cherry Farm
03 Mar 2018
It was 30 degrees, on an early January morning, when 27 members of the Probus Club of Tea Tree Gully visited the Kenton Valley Cherry Farm and the Cherry Shed Café.
With blue skies, and minimum traffic on pleasant winding roads, we headed to Kenton Valley Cherries, a 30-hectare cherry orchard and packing shed complex located in picturesque Kenton Valley between Gumeracha and Lobethal in the lovely Adelaide Hills, which is open 7 days during the cherry season mid-November to the end of January.
The welcoming staff at the Cafe directed us to our seating, and the Friendship, Fellowship and Fun. began! Cherries, cherry pies, cherry slice, cherry ice cream and cherry shakes called us to the product counter. A quick glance around the room, and we also sighted cherry jam, cherry chutney, cherry topping and cherry sauce to add to our purchases.
Much Friendship, Fellowship, and Fun continued as we compared our New Year’s resolutions! Oohing and aahing was also heard as the members in attendance commented on their delicious morning tea selections.
As the morning sun moved, so too did the parade of musical chairs begin, as members sought the outdoor decking shade. Sadly, as with all events there comes an ending, and we said our goodbyes and began our drive back home.
