Getting in touch with nature
20 Apr 2017
On a beautiful March day members of the Probus Club of Hobart Macquarie enjoyed a coach tour to Mount Field National Park, two hours north of Hobart. This national park, the first in Tasmania and one of the first in Australia, was established in 1916 and celebrated 100 years of continual operation last year. It covers 22,000 square hectares and was recently recognised internationally by being included in the vast Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
The coach tour included areas of the Derwent Valley, which feature abundant cherry orchards and hop fields.
Members enjoyed lunch at the Waterfalls Cafe and walks to Russell Falls and the Tall Trees area. Some trees are over 90 metres tall and still growing.
