Q Station is the perfect Sydney staycation

Staycations don’t come any better than this. Introducing Q Station, a heritage-listed hotel set on the edge of Sydney’s spectacular harbour.

Located at Manly’s North Head, Q Station was once Australia’s first quarantine station and now offers boutique hotel accommodation, an amazing restaurant, and one of the best ghost and history tours in the country.

The perfect staycation destination

Set on 33 hectares of National Park and only a 35-minute drive from Sydney’s CBD, Q Station is the ultimate staycation destination if you’re looking for an escape without having to travel hours from the city.

For those who want to stretch their legs, there’s plenty of space, fresh air and nature walks, not to mention bike hire and your very own private harbour beach with kayak hire available.

And when it’s time to kick back with a lovely meal and some drinks, the award-winning Boilerhouse Kitchen and Bar is on hand, offering both formal and casual dining right next to Quarantine Beach.

The restaurant is housed in the original boiler house building of the original quarantine station, and has now been fully refurbished to offer a unique and memorable dining experience.

Try the coral coast barramundi, warm cauliflower salad and whipped cod roe, or the slow braised beef cheek with soft polenta and chicory. Or, simply enjoy some freshly shucked Sydney rock oysters with Champagne mignonette on the outdoor terrace while enjoying one of Sydney’s most magnificent views.

And don’t miss Q Station’s Sunset Sessions, held every Saturday (weather-dependent), with live music overlooking Sydney Harbour.

Boutique accommodation

There are a range of accommodation options available at Q Station including queen deluxe rooms, harbourside rooms and three-bedroom cottages.

The cottages have their own kitchenette and cooking facilities, lounge room, garden and deck – perfect to bring the whole family.

The site features 106 accommodation options in total, and all rooms open onto a veranda with outdoor chairs. You’ll also find guest lounges that make for a great location to relax and read a book.

Ghost and history tours

Stories of paranormal occurrences at the quarantine station have been told for decades. If you’re fascinated by ghost stories, we highly recommend Q Station’s wonderfully spooky Ghost Tours.

History is entwined throughout the property, and as darkness descends over Q Station’s historic buildings, burial ground and empty pathways, it’s time to encounter the ghosts of the site.

Or for those who’d like to learn about the more than 150 years of history at the quarantine station without the ghost element, history toursare also available for bookings.

G&Tea House

Opening at the end of October, Q Station’s new G&Tea House will allow you to enjoy high tea and specialty gin cocktails while soaking in the amazing views over Sydney Harbour.

G&Tea House has been carefully designed with paper art and vintage / eclectic curated pieces by artist in residence Jo Neville. It’s a unique twist on the typical tea house and is perfect for dining with a loved one, family or group of friends.
