A Visit to Heide

Nineteen members enjoyed a very interesting and enjoyable outing to the Heide Museum and Art Gallery in nearby Bulleen.  Starting in the original cottage we heard the history of the Reed family and the many artists who were supported within their community. We visited the cottage garden and then walked through the grounds to the Reed's later, very modern home which is now a gallery. This contained installations featuring dried leaves, and from there we went to a very colourful exhibition which included highly patterned artworks which were used in quilts and clothing.  While much of the artwork was not to everyone's taste, it was a most interesting outing, finishing with a lovely lunch in the Heide Cafe.
