Mount Gambier Ladies Probus members celebrated Probus Month with a range of activities embracing the blue and gold theme.
As part of Probus South Pacific Limited’s national campaign, two Mount Gambier landmarks were illuminated in Probus colours on 1 October: the Lady Nelson Visitor and Tourism Centre and the Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre.
At the club’s monthly meeting on 6 October, foundation member Beth Hunter celebrated her 100th birthday with fellow members. Beth, who has been a member for 37 years, received a certificate from President Fran Russell recognising her service to the club, including her terms as President in 2001 and 2002 and the Life Membership bestowed on her in 2018. Members enjoyed afternoon tea provided by the RSL Catering Ladies Committee, birthday cupcakes and a sponge cake, while singing Happy Birthday to Beth. The afternoon also featured the annual Red Gum fashion parade presented by Wendy and Dee.
Two past presidents, Jan Feast and Carole Burge, were each presented with a Probus Month Certificate in recognition of their contributions to the club. The celebrations will continue at the next meeting on Melbourne Cup Day, with members encouraged to wear blue and gold alongside their fascinators, hats and necklaces.
